One of my 2021 New Year's Resolutions was to beef up my art portfolio with more substantial illustrations, concept art, and character designs; as to push myself as an artist, as well as have a better representation of my work online.
As a result, January's challenge was both a celebration of the rouge-like/rogue-lite pixel indie game Skul: The Hero Slayer (in time for it's Steam official release) and something I'd never tried as an artist: playing around with an infinity mirror perspective! My overarching concept was to play on the gameplay of swapping Littlebone's into other forms, with it represented in the other skuls as reflections. The dark quartz in the foreground (and reflected on the left) plays an important part of the storyline and mechanically allows the player to upgrade Littlebone's skills through each new run. There are a few Easter Eggs for those who've played the game in Early Access mode, as well as a skul that you only get as part of the tutorial.
