Flippable Gestures

Part of our Life Drawing is posing our models in a sequence to imitate key positions of a motion, then we draw each pose as a gesture for 4-5 mins and then timing it.

Pantomime (Hopscotch) Final

Our final assignment for this semester, focusing on body language as well as movement within perspective. Still needs some work, some parts are a bit too quick for my liking, but overall I think it turned out all right.

Critiques encouraged and welcomed wholeheartedly!

Personality Walk (Revised)

Fixed the jiggling Drop Shadow and adjusted the timing on the recoil. Critiques welcome!

Saga of the Saviours Banquet Wear

In the event that our heroes happen to be (forced) to attend a formal banquet in their honour. Our resident Circle druid doesn't seem too please with the change in fashion.

Based off of medieval and Renaissance up to early Elizabethian styles.

WiP Locomotion with Repeat Pan BG

Panning BG using Harmony with a traditionally animated character.

Still have some tweaks to the secondary action to make and need to add arms at the end.

Constructive Critics welcomed! :D

Playing with Styles

Whenever I get tired of doing homework, I draw (a weird paradox of getting tired of drawing for school, only to draw for yourself).

Nonetheless, one of my favourite things to do is take characters and draw them in a different style:

Saga of the Saviours characters: Ser Warn, Carsla, and 'Halil done in the style of Tex Avery cartoons.

Gru's flashback childhood scene from Despicable Me 2 done in the style similar to 60's & 70's Hanna Barbara cartoons (particularly The Jetsons)

(NSFW) Anatomy Studies: Legs Assignment

One of our Life Drawing Assignments in which we take a long pose of a model and then deconstruct the placement of the skeleton and musculature on separate pieces of tracing paper. Definitely a great exercise!

Quick Posing and Anatomy Studies

I'm currently balancing a 30 day drawing challenge with school work. Figured I might as well show some of them here.

Ron Clements & John Musker Autograph

An autograph from Disney's directing duo Ron Clements and John Musker!

Decided to jazz up the autographed page of my sketchbook with a character from each of the films that they've directed (so far).

It was a pleasure to listen to them at their panel during the Ottawa International Animation Festival!

Repeating Pan Thumbs Revised

Just a matter of revising what I have so that it works in perspective. Thankfully one has been selected to make into a full-sized pan that'll work on animation paper. It's all part of the process!

Even though I'm only drawing one for this assignment, there are still several ones that I'd love to develop into projects on my off-time.

Life Drawing Gesture Pile

Some of my quick drawings (gestures) of poses from Life Drawing class that turned out nicely.

Simple Repeating Pan Thumbnails

Some layout thumbnails that I'm working on for school. I think I've wrapped my head around how a pan's perspective works. These work as simple repeating pans (à la Flintstones).

More Saga of the Saviours Stuff!

For your viewing pleasure, some more concept art and notes for Saga of the Saviours!

Figured that I'd better do some notes and sort out some information about our main characters before I pose them into group shots. Importantly, consistency information such as head heights and height comparisons between the characters.

Some character variation checks, ensuring each of our mains is identifiable at even the basest of levels!

D'n'Derp

A Chibi-fied version of the events having taken place when playing a one-off DnD campaign with a bunch of friends.

Above:
Warner - Dungeon Master

From left to right:

1) Khalil - Human Rogue
[Spent a large amount of the game misfiring a lot of his longbow shots; disabled quite a few traps in a drunkard's house in order to get his maps; and was the first to suggest an orchestrated Bond escape from a tavern using enchanted ale as a explosive which ultimately got shot down]

2) Annabel (Khalil's girlfriend) - Human Cleric
[Her first time playing DnD was certainly eventful, she did her fair share of healing; tried to maintain the peace, though with the occasional -we need to kill them all- tangent; and smashed in the face of a dying near-zombie with her mace in order to get his amulet]

3) Amanda (me) - Human Sorceress
[After a bit of miss-firing spells early on in the campaign, she nearly got thrown in jail for killing a woman who was close to turning into a zombie; ultimately one-hit the final boss necromancer by taking control of his zombie gargantuan using a slightly evil ring picked off of a guard's corpse, and then used it to steam-roll the rest of the mercenary archers]

4) Benjamin - Human Paladin
[Looks scared and rightfully so, he ultimately sacrificed himself because he was a man that was pure of heart to destroy the crystal that was creating zombies]

5) Amanda (Warner's girlfriend) - Human Fighter
[Dished out some major damage; ended up being more diplomatic and able to calm NPCs down more so than our Paladin, possibly due to sitting the closest to the DM and by being his girlfriend]

Hippo for you?

This was a sketch I did quite a while back (after the school year had finished) inspired by the Hippo and Alligator Ballet sequence as animated by Preston Blair. I finally got around to colouring (now that summer vacation is coming to a close).

Saga of the Saviours [Working Title] Concept Art

Some character updates from the former Fools and Fantasy project that I was working on with a friend of mine. The storyline has since undergone a massive update, changing the feel of the world as well as how everything is going to play out. Each character is now more true to their lineage, and they all have their own agenda to attend to during the story.

Old Fools and Fantasy Characters

The updated Saga of the Saviours counterparts

Animal companion(s), weapons design, locations, and other concept art to be updated soon enough!

Some of the things that I did for 1st year Animation

Basically some of the character and layout design assignments that don't make my eyes burn upon looking at them... :P

Line-test videos will come a little later! (As soon as I can successfully format Quicktime to MP4 without having a massive quality drop)
